Mazda New Zealand is ringing in the New Year with updates to the CX-30 range and the addition of the new SP20 MHEV Blackout Edition.
Designed to inspire creativity, blending quality craftsmanship and sleek styling, the new SP20 MHEV Blackout Edition is a great addition to the CX-30 range. With a black accentuated exterior and red stitching in the interior, this newly added model expresses a sporty and sharp appearance.
In line with Mazda’s multi-solution approach to sustainability, the SP20 MHEV Blackout Edition is powered by the e-Skyactiv G 2.0L engine with M Hybrid system storing electricity in the 24-V Lithium-Ion Battery allowing the system to recover and store energy - deceleration energy.
The Mazda M-Hybrid is a mild-hybrid system unique to Mazda that makes effective use of energy to support both fuel efficiency and driving performance. In addition to recycling energy usually lost during deceleration, the M-Hybrid system in CX-30 SP20 MHEV Blackout Edition helps drivability by substituting engine torque for motor torque - taking both driving performance and fuel efficiency to the next level. The built-in control is always predicting energy input and output while driving to ensure the most intelligent use of energy possible when the car is starting, accelerating or coming to a stop resulting in improved fuel economy.
A new exterior colour has also been added to the range - Platinum Quartz. This colour accentuates the model’s stylish Kodo design and three-dimensional expression with a sense of mass - highlighted areas look silky while the mid-tones give off a quartz-like hard and translucent feel.
All CX-30 models have an extensive list of features including active driving display, GPS, Android AutoTM/Apple CarPlayTM connectivity, Reversing Camera, as well as privacy glass as standard.
The i-Activ AWD system on the All-Wheel-Drive models enhances performance by focusing on improved driving dynamics, handling and vehicle control that help the driver enjoy the experience on most terrains and in most conditions. Mazda’s unique i-Activ AWD system continuously monitors weight distribution and shifts power to the appropriate wheels, providing drivers a near instant response to inputs.
Additionally, all CX-30 models are equipped with G-Vectoring Control Plus – a Mazda vehicle dynamic and motion control system that responds to steering inputs with subtle engine torque and braking changes to provide a much smoother ride and handling making it more pleasurable to drive and more comfortable for passengers.
The CX-30 – like all Mazda models has a five-star ANCAP safety rating. Peace of mind comes from the vast number of built-in safety features like Mazda’s AEB Smart Brake Support (with night-time pedestrian and cyclist detection), Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Mazda Radar Cruise Control.
Occupants are further protected by the high concentration of ultra-high tensile steel to help reinforce the chassis. In addition to the Front, Side and Curtain SRS Airbags, a newly developed knee airbag for the driver to suppress forward motion is also standard on all models.
The CX-30 also has an extensive Mazdacare aftersales programme which further enhances the ownership experience by providing a 5-year warranty and 5-year Mazda On-Call Roadside Assistance. While the 5 year/100,000km (whichever comes first) Genuine Mazda Scheduled Servicing at no extra cost provides further peace of mind.
Mazda will also be funding five native NZ trees for every new Mazda model sold in conjunction with Trees That Count. Native trees not only sequester CO2 from the atmosphere, but they also provide thriving habitats for native birds, improve water quality in water ways, and provide beautiful places for future generations to explore. Every native tree planted in NZ helps to restore and enhance our environment, for biodiversity, for climate change.
